Biography
Mary Evelyn Newhall Behee Mary grew up in the Universalist Church of Lynn, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of a long standing Universalist family in that community. Following World War II she enrolled at Saint Lawrence College, to study religious education with Angus MacLean. It was in theological school that she met Wells E. Behee her husband of 63 years. Mary and Wells served together in ministry. While Mary was never ordained, she was sometimes licensed to preach. This was a ministry she seldom exercised, preferring to work with young people in classroom settings. Together they served the Universalist Church, Dexter, New York; the Universalist Church, Woodstock, Ohio; the Universalist Church, Eldorado, Ohio; and the First Universalist Church, New Madison, Ohio. Aside from her work in Universalist religious education, Mary also worked as an elementary school teacher in different rural Ohio school systems Mary Beheeage 85, of New Madison OH passed away on December 13, 2011 in a tragic car accident. She was born March 1, 1926 in Lynn Massachusettes, the daughter of Elsie M. Newhall and Lawrence E. Newhall. She was educated in the Lynn school systems, graduated from Salem Teacher's College, received a certificate of Religious Education from Canton Theological School at St. Lawrence University, and her teaching credentials from Miami University. She married Rev. Wells E. Behee in 1949. They recently had celebrated their 63rd anniversary. She was a retired elementary school teacher, serving many years at Franklin Monroe. She was a doll collector, and avid gardener.

Mary Behee's Body was donated to Wright State Boonshoft Medical anatomical gift program. Some body tissues were donated to South West Ohio Search and Rescue for Human Remains Detection Training. Her cremains were scattered at sea, in the ocean she so loved, with some reserved to be mixed with her husband, Wells and scattered at their family home in New Madison.
