Thomas was my father. He died when I was 5 years old. I remember that he smoked camel cigarettes unfiltered. He served in the marine reserves. There are letters that he wrote while in boot camp to his mother Pauline Viola Therit Greenplate and his father Luther Nelson Greenplate. He had a son also named Troy Lee Greenplate. Daddy was a tall lanky fellow who loved his cars. I can still see him sitting in the living room on the brown couch smoking a cigarette. I remember riding his shoulders, while we went squirrel hunting. I was supposed to be quiet. He had a dog named Dexter. We went went sledding on my birthday a few months before he died. He died on memorial day in a car accident. He had very fast Chevy and lost control of the car on Lehman road. He was thrown out of the car, and it rolled over him. I can still hear the sound of his car that evening as it roared up the road.
