Dorrance Goodwin died of heart failure. He had scarlet fever as a child that contributed to his heart disease. He had open heart surgery at Mass General Hospital in the mid sixties. He is buried in Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford CT. He had 3 children with his wife Jean,Dorrance Jr., Philip R. and Stacey E.
He was a well loved educator/principal in the West Hartford school system and responsible for bringing the "New Math" to said school system in 1963.
